The 328JET started life as the Dornier 328 turboprop, then someone decided to strap two jet engines on it. The result is a 33-seat regional jet that's surprisingly fast and capable. Fairchild Dornier went bankrupt before it could build many, making survivors genuinely rare.

The 328JET is one of the few aircraft ever converted from turboprop to jet power — same airframe, completely different personality.
