The RV-6 is the side-by-side version that made Van's Aircraft a household name in general aviation. Where the RV-4 put seats in tandem, the RV-6 put them next to each other — making it a proper cross-country touring machine you could actually share with someone. Builders have completed thousands of them, each one slightly unique.

Fun fact

The RV-6A nosewheel version is the most popular Van's RV variant ever built — it's the Honda Civic of homebuilts.

How to spot one

Side-by-side seating (vs RV-4's tandem). Low wing. Kit-built. Very popular at fly-ins.
